A Visitor from Halifax!!

Last week we got an e-mail from our friend Lisa saying she was coming to Toronto. I have known Lisa since high school and although we lost contact with her for a while after high school we have picked up right where we left off. To me it feels like there was never any time between the last day of school and the day we saw each other again. This by the way was a fluke. I was at a co-workers BBQ and was actually leaving when she arrived I ended up staying even later catching up.

We've been hanging out ever since.... then she went and joined the NAVY and moved to Halifax. So after seeing her at the VERY least once a month I have been reduced to emails, text messages and long distance phone calls and when she can come back to Toronto to visit. And I demand she sees me when she is in town. I think I have gotten quite bossy and jealous of the time we get to spend together.

See Lisa knows me, she really knows me. So there isn't any of that holding back opinions because I am not afraid of offending her and that she won’t want to be my friend anymore, or that her opinion of me will change. I have no worries about her seeing me without my hair done or in my best clothes because she’s seen me at my utmost best and my ugliest worst already and she’s still around. She knows my past and will be there to see my future without a doubt. We already know that we have a difference of opinions on subjects but think alike on others. Ours is a friendship that I made all on my own. It wasn’t thru work, or someone else (like Steve). We had come together thru common interests. There never seems to be anything that we can’t say something to each other about.

Well the last time Lisa came to visit she cut our visit short for a date for a guy and I should have been happy for her and for the most part I was but it meant that my visit with her would have been cut down to only 2 hours. So when she e-mailed:


Hello beautiful people get the good weather ready. I am coming to town to visit from the 22 April to the 26 April.. It's not a lot of time but my contract will be over soon, and I will be closer to home in the summer. I look forward to seeing everybody so drop me a line if you have time to get together.

So I emailed back immediately. Craft show! However turns out the craft show that was on that weekend was in Mississauga. So I emailed her lunch and a movie to ensure that I get my entire day with her, none of this ducking out early for a “boy” business. But of course I am just a friend and he can do so much more than I can for her. She had booked again only for a 2 hr visit. However the boy had gotten his wires crossed to my advantage and I got my entire day like I wanted (see what I mean about jealous). We went to the nice Japanese restaurant down the street and had lunch(Minuette loves Japanese food), went to Sobey’s bought some items there and came back home and watched a nice little movie named: The Day the Earth Stood Still with Jayden Smith, Jennifer Connelly and Keanu Reeves and eating popcorn. Then the time came for her to go.

I did find out during this trip that she will be spending the summer in Borden, Ontario which is closer. And cheaper for her to come down and visit when she manages to get some leave. But afterwards she will be either going back to Halifax or going to British Columbia for some “on the job training” – I think she called it the “practical” training course but I can’t remember (so Lisa if you read this please let me know if I am telling this right) so either way I will lose her again to a coastal province. There’s more but I figure it’s too far into the future to mention. Please see the attached photos of the visit.

I miss you Lisa! We are going to the beach for the entire day on June 12th! Reserve the date for me and Minuette.
